Chapter 56: Scream!
Chapter 56: Scream!
Jason returned to his room with Rachel, where Lillian and Bella awaited them as they were getting ready to eat.
They knew they had to preserve food, the first day was an exception for them to pig out but now they had to be careful because they were moving.
One would think that they would revisit the store to restock on food but this was left to be seen as it would mean them going back.
Jason sat down opposite Bella and Lillian with Rachel sitting beside Jason but she was a little too close to him, Jason thought this to be accidental but she wasn’t withdrawing from him.
Her laps were touching him slightly and Jason took note of this, this was clearly physical contact but the way she acted the last time he touched her made him question what was wrong with her.
Maybe he invaded her personal space a little too soon but this was the least of their worries right now.
"Where did you both run off to?" Bella asked with a raised brow but Jason didn’t know if they should tell her what was happening or not seeing as Bella would pick on the moment she saw the guns.
"We went to see Sam, he just returned with Clementine, they went on a run..." Rachel said bluntly and just like she suspected, Bella didn’t care about this.
"Geez, they could have at least told us they were going on a run," Bella rolled her eyes, clearly irritated by this development as she took a spoon of canned beans, shoving it into her mouth.
She was barely clothed and Rachel wondered if something happened the night before even though it wasn’t in her place.
In that thought, she momentarily pictured Jason naked and the image wasn’t so bad.
But she quickly pushed the thought out of her head, it was perverse and with him right beside her, she felt like some sort of pervert.
She also realized that she was touching Jason and slowly removed the part of her body that was touching him.
Jason, who was very conscious of the touch, noticed the moment she took it off him.
He looked disappointed but he didn’t show it, it was probably a mistake on her end.
Lillian’s body was slightly exposed, this showed that she was getting comfortable with the company that she currently had.
But Jason saw one of her numerous scars, and he wanted to ask what happened to her but this wasn’t the time or place for such a personal question.
The fact that she was comfortable enough was because she wasn’t thinking about it and he was certain that she would cover it up if he brought her attention to her.
They sat and ate, keeping themselves entertained with small talk, they knew that this was all they could do right now but in came Clementine and Sam.
Sam was all freshened up and Clementine dressed the same but they came with the kids that they were with.
"AARRRGGGHHH!" The boy screamed the moment he entered the room, running out with Clementine running after him, trying to urge him to get back inside.
Sam was startled because what the fuck was this barbaric behaviour? Why the fuck did he scream that loud when it was sound that attracted zombies?
What if they were outside, would this little fucker scream the way he just did?
Sam didn’t understand why Clementine wanted to keep him so bad but he wouldn’t hesitate to put a bullet in his head should he put them in danger.
"What the fuck was that!?" Jason was clearly pissed, he didn’t care if he was a kid.
"Trust me, he isn’t here because of me," Sam said as he sat down beside Lillian.
He saw that they had eaten already, he reached to take a snack from Lillain’s opened chips but she yanked it away.
"Mine!" Lillian said; she wasn’t even affected by the scream and Sam couldn’t believe how greedy she was.
"Are you for real?" Sam questioned with a raised brow.
"I said mine!" Lillian reiterated but her voice was fierce.
"Fine tiger, don’t fucking bite me!" Sam said as he conceded but his eyes drifted to the opened chips in Jason’s hand before lifting his head to see Jason staring right at him.
"Don’t... just don’t..." Jason warned as Rachel giggled faintly.
"You can have some of mine," Rachel said, handing Sam her chips and this was a gesture he appreciated as he dug in.
Jason noticed this and wondered if Rachel had some sort of interest in Sam, she was showing a side of her that even he hadn’t seen.
"You’re the best Rachel!" Sam showed his gratitude.
"You aren’t hungry?" Jason asked her in a hushed voice because he was trying to understand why Rachel did what she did.
"He risked his life to increase our chances of survival, this is the least we can do," Rachel said but Jason was confused seeing as there were still some chips available so why didn’t he just grab it?
"Besides..." Rachel continued, drawing Jason’s attention back to her.
The rustling sound of his chips told him that someone had dipped their hand inside.
"I could always eat with you," Rachel said with a smile and this warmed Jason’s soul to the core.
He couldn’t help but grin, he didn’t know where he stood with Bella but speaking of Bella, she has been quiet.
Jason snuck a glance at Bella but the expression he saw on her face was one he didn’t recognize. Bella looked like she had just seen a ghost.
She caught Jason looking at her and awkwardly smiled before she excused herself to the toilet.
"What was that about?" Jason thought nothing of this, maybe she had eaten too much and needed to relieve herself but he wasn’t the only one watching.
"She knows the brat..." Sam thought to himself as he took a bite of the chips in his hand, a smirk creasing his face.
"This is getting interesting..."
