Chapter 303 Autopsy
Chapter 303 Autopsy
The driver continued, "A few days ago, at that intersection down there, a woman had her throat slit. I heard she was killed around this time. So please don't think I'm being nosy or meddlesome; I'm just trying to be helpful."
"Okay, I understand." Bai Mengfei appeared nonchalant on the surface, but in reality, her eyes were fixed on the next intersection ahead.
That intersection is a busy crossroads with high pedestrian traffic.
To dare to kill someone in a place like this, that murderer is truly audacious.
Upon arriving at the police station, Bai Mengfei went straight to the morgue. Xiang Yuntian, not quite understanding Bai Mengfei's thoughts, followed behind her.
Upon arriving at the morgue, Xiang Yuntian asked, "Shall we begin the autopsy now?"
"This matter cannot be delayed, do I need to remind you of that?" Bai Mengfei asked with a smile.
Xiang Yuntian could only nod silently, agreeing with Bai Mengfei's opinion.
Two bodies were placed in the morgue, and due to rigor mortis and the temperature inside, the bodies appeared somewhat stiff.
They each took charge of one corpse.
The body examined by Bai Mengfei was that of a woman between 25 and 30 years old. The preliminary assessment was that the woman died from a severed throat.
Bai Mengfei suspects the murder weapon might be an old-fashioned razor.
Just as Bai Mengfei was observing carefully, Xiang Yuntian suddenly walked up to her, startling her. She immediately turned around in surprise, looking at Xiang Yuntian with astonishment, and asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"
“I have already examined the male corpse over there. It was a student who also died from having his throat cut.”
"A student? How did you figure that out?" Bai Mengfei thought that being able to identify the deceased was no easy task.
Xiang Yuntian chuckled and lowered his head, saying, "It's actually quite simple. He has a scar on his forehead. Come with me and take a look. It's clearly a blunt object injury, most likely caused by one of those iron desks and chairs in the school. Also, he's quite young, probably only around 16 years old, and his body hasn't fully developed yet."
"Really?" Bai Mengfei went over to examine it carefully. After checking together, she felt that Xiang Yuntian's deduction was highly likely.
The two worked in the morgue for several hours until Zhao Fei arrived, at which point they asked him for the male student's information.
They all had a gut feeling that starting their investigation with this male student might uncover more clues.
After receiving the report, Bai Mengfei and Xiang Yuntian learned about it.
The student's name is Jiang Xia, he is 17 years old, and he is a student in Class C of the second year of high school. In other words, his situation is slightly better than that of the worst student.
However, this student was notorious for being mischievous and troublesome at school; he had been involved in fighting, smoking, and skipping classes. He was able to get into Class C because his academic performance was consistently among the best in the school.
He was a problem student, loved and hated by teachers and principals alike. The school teachers' comments on him always included the words "unruly and difficult to control".
After reviewing the report, Bai Mengfei and Xiang Yuntian discussed and explored the case in their office.
Bai Mengfei pondered for a moment and said, "I think these two cases, just as Captain Zhao and his team initially assessed, can be handled together."
“That’s right, I completely agree.” Xiang Yuntian clasped his hands together and put on a serious expression opposite Bai Mengfei. “Moreover, starting the investigation from Jiangxia’s perspective will greatly increase the chances of solving the case.”
Seeing the two discussing the case, Zhao Fei brought over a small stool, walked over, and sat down to listen in.
As soon as they saw Zhao Fei approaching, they both turned to look at him.
Zhao Fei knew he couldn't find any clues in this case and didn't dare to interfere with the two's investigation, so he quickly said, "You two continue your discussion, don't worry about me, I'll just listen."
"Hmm." Bai Mengfei and Xiang Yuntian had good composure and quickly continued their discussion as if no one else was around.
They ignored Zhao Fei and continued discussing the case.
After some thought, Bai Mengfei said, "This case is indeed very tricky right now. If we want to find better clues, we need to conduct a more in-depth investigation. It would be best to go to Jiangxia's school."
“Yes.” Xiang Yuntian affirmed Bai Mengfei’s idea. “Besides that, we also need to find out who the people who usually have conflicts with Jiang Xia are probably students from their school.”
Hearing this, Zhao Fei couldn't help but interject, "There are plenty of students at school who have grudges against Jiang Xia. That kid is always getting into fights at school. We've already been to the school and we know all about his situation there."
By this time, quite a few police officers had gathered around and were listening in.
Bai Mengfei bit her lip, lost in thought.
After thinking for a while, she looked up and made a decision: "Then, Captain Zhao, please give us a list of the classmates who have had conflicts with him!"
Zhao Fei nodded and said, "That's no problem, but it's not appropriate for you forensic doctors to investigate this case."
“I know,” Bai Mengfei smiled faintly, “but what can we do? Think about it, we also want to examine the body, issue a report, and then go home. But even if our report is detailed and excellent, can you solve the case based on the clues we provide? You can’t, right?”
Zhao Fei felt that Bai Mengfei's words made sense, and nodded apologetically, saying, "Alright, the same as before, let Officer Zheng go with you. If there's anything inconvenient, her status should be able to help."
In fact, Wang Tian was just a front. Every time they investigated a case, they mainly relied on Bai Mengfei and Xiang Yuntian's keen insight.
"Okay, it's settled then. Give me the list and information later, and we'll go to the school to take a look this afternoon." As she spoke, Bai Mengfei noticed the criminal police officer and forensic doctor next to her, and then looked around.
Zhao Fei had been too focused on the case to notice them, but when Bai Mengfei looked at him, he realized what was going on and immediately asked, "What's going on with you all? What are you doing here? Are you bored?"
Upon hearing Zhao Fei's words, the group shrank back and returned to their seats.
Zhao Fei stood up and walked straight to his office to begin organizing the relevant documents.
In less than half an hour, he personally handed the compiled materials to Xiang Yuntian and Bai Mengfei.
