Chapter 203: Thoughts

Lu Yu comforted her several times, and then said, "Didn't His Highness say that there's a birthday celebration before the annual meeting? No matter what kind of banquet it is, there will be wine at the banquet. As long as we start from this aspect, are we afraid that we can't successfully attract their attention?"

Ji Meiqing stared at him blankly for a long time before asking, "Do you have any good ideas?"

"Leave the idea to me, you go and rest." He chuckled and pushed her back into the room, watching her slowly sit down on the soft couch before going about his own business.

His idea was simply to use the prince to deliver the wine to the Empress Dowager. If she was satisfied, they would have a chance.

Some dishes don't even need alcohol; they're simple to make by just adding other ingredients.

As the candlelight flickered, he focused intently on the contents of the jar. His hand, however, continued grinding the contents into a juice that dripped into the wine.

Li Ming packed his things and was about to go back when he noticed that the light in the window was still on, so he went inside out of curiosity.

"Are you alright?" Seeing that Lu Yu was still busy, she didn't feel comfortable cleaning up. But seeing him still here so late, she couldn't help but be a little curious.

"You're still here, aren't you going back?"

"We'll be back in a bit." He kept moving, talking to him as he put the things in his hands inside.

Li Ming watched for a while, then came over and started moving with him. Lu Yu understood, and his movements became much lighter.

The two worked until midnight before Lu Yu finally finished preparing the wine and set it aside.

"Thank you." Out of politeness, he still thanked him, and the two parted ways at the door and went their separate ways home.

Li Ming watched him walk away before continuing on his way. He didn't know how late it was, but when he got home, he still saw her asleep on the soft couch, without any covering her.

Even the heater at their feet had gone out. Lu Yu sighed, picked her up, put her on the bed, and covered her with the blanket.

When she passed by the soft couch, she put all those things away. I don't know what she was doing, but she wove a small strip of cloth with those fine threads, like she was weaving linen.

After washing up, she was already awake. Seeing Lu Yu about to get into bed, she moved over to make room for him.

"You're awake? I disturbed you, I'll be more careful next time."

He asked softly, then gently got into bed and lay down next to her.

"Why is it so late again?" She yawned, looking at him sleepily. Her consciousness was hazy, as if she was about to fly away. Lu Yu covered her with the blanket and then coaxed her to sleep.

When she woke up again, Lu Yu was no longer by her side, as if it had all been a dream.

She was stunned for a long time before she came to her senses, got up, washed her face, and ate breakfast. When Grandma Mei saw her alone, she said strangely, "I don't know what Lu Yu has been busy with these past few days. I haven't seen him all day."

"There's always something to do." She smiled and said no more. Grandma Mei also stopped talking and placed the bowl of porridge in front of them.

Ji Meiqing suddenly looked up and asked, "Is there still porridge in the stove?"

"Yes, there is." She glanced at the kitchen before answering. Ji Meiqing also glanced at it before looking away and saying, "Then please put it away for me later. I'm going to the winery after I finish eating."

"Hey, that's good."

Grandma Mei agreed, and Ji Meiqing ate her meal in peace.

After breakfast, she packed a little something else in a lunchbox before heading out. She rarely concerned herself with matters at the distillery anymore; Lu Yu and Li Ming were now handling everything for her.

She was enjoying her leisure time, so she quickly walked over. The fire was already lit inside, and she greeted Ji Meiqing before continuing with her work.

She asked Lu Yu for his location and went straight there. He was still busy there, so Ji Meiqing tiptoed towards him.

"Guess who I am?" She put down what she was holding, then blindfolded him, deliberately raising her voice to a high-pitched tone.

Lu Yu stopped and replied, following her words, "My lawfully wedded wife."

"Who is your wife?" she asked, leaning close to his ear and whispering a warm breath in his ear.

Lu Yu pulled her hand towards him and held her firmly in his arms, saying, "My wife is in my arms."

"Hehe." She tried to break free, but failed, and looked at Lu Yu again. The latter smiled provocatively.

"Pranks should also have a certain level of sophistication."

"Okay." She sighed slightly, gave him a light peck on the cheek, then looked at him and said, "How about this?"

Lu Yu released her and continued with what he was doing. She tidied up the things in front of her and then put away the food she had brought.

"You've been leaving early and coming home late these past few days, skipping breakfast and dinner. It's a miracle your stomach hasn't developed any problems yet!"

She poked it with her finger, and although it was a reproach, her tone carried a hint of coquettishness.

Looking at the food, Lu Yu consciously put down his work and went to eat. Ji Meiqing sat to the side, watching what was happening. Everyone else was busy, but Lu Yu was eating alone.

He also knew that the food in his bowl would be eaten up quickly.

"I didn't know you were coming. If I had known you were coming specifically for me, I wouldn't have gotten up so early."

Ji Meiqing rolled her eyes at him and didn't bother to say anything more. She simply said, "Next time, eat breakfast before you leave, otherwise I'll have to make another trip."

"Hmm." He smiled and didn't say anything more, but suddenly thought of Shangguan Yuzhe. He seemed to have already gone back, but he didn't tell them where the Prince's Mansion was.

In such a vast city as the capital, where even emperors and generals are neighbors, if one were to accidentally go to the wrong place, all one's efforts would be wasted.

"What's wrong?" Seeing his restless appearance, Ji Meiqing became curious. "What happened?"

"I think he didn't tell us his location."

"That's alright." She smiled knowingly. "We still have Princess Xunhua. We can just send a message by carrier pigeon to ask when the time comes."

"That's true." He understood, just smiled, and said nothing more.

Ji Meiqing tidied up everything in front of her and then prepared to go back. Lu Yu was still busy, and although she wanted to help, she didn't know how, so she could only stop there.

"Come back early for dinner tonight, don't stay up late again," she reminded him, then took the rest of her things and went back. Lu Yu saw her to the door and watched her walk away before going back himself.
