Chapter 187 7-member team
The boy carried various small tools, a short dagger at his waist, a small bow and arrow on his back, and a small telescope on his shoulder. He also had two bulging cloth bags on either side.
His expression carried a hint of mischief and confidence, with the corners of his mouth slightly upturned, as if he were full of confidence in his abilities.
The young man stepped down from the recruitment platform, smiled slightly at Mo Ming, and said in a light tone, "Master, my name is Kane, and I specialize in reconnaissance and investigation. Whether it's tracking enemies or finding hidden treasures, leave it to me!"
My eyes and ears are far more acute than those of ordinary people. I can locate a target with the slightest clue, and I can even scout out enemy positions in advance.
Kane's appearance and the little accessories he wore were quite in line with the characteristics of a scout.
"You served in the military?"
“Yes, I used to be a scout for our town’s garrison! When the demons invaded, the unit was scattered, and I was captured and sent to a concentration camp.” Kane’s expression turned somewhat dejected when he mentioned the concentration camp.
"Were you also imprisoned in the Foxna Camp?"
"No, the place I was imprisoned in was called Eagle River Prison."
Mo Ming nodded, then shifted his gaze to the figure behind Kane, his eyes filled with confusion.
It appeared almost simultaneously with Kane, and to everyone's surprise, it was just a small dog. It wasn't large, only reaching about Kane's knees, and looked quite adorable.
Its fur was snow-white and soft, its ears stood up, its eyes were bright black, and its nose was moist; it was very endearing. The puppy's tail wagged back and forth, and although it seemed confused, it also appeared exceptionally friendly, instantly winning Mo Ming's favor.
However, this little dog was no ordinary pet. After circling around Kane's feet, it raised its head and stared intently at Mo Ming, seemingly sizing up its new owner.
Kane crouched down, patted the puppy's head, and said with a smile, "Master, this is my partner, Blue. Don't let its cute appearance fool you, it's no ordinary puppy!"
Blue possesses the ability to transform, allowing him to become an incredibly ferocious beast in battle.
Upon hearing Kane's introduction, the puppy Blue seemed to know it had been praised. It proudly raised its head and barked at Mo Ming, its bark clear and strong. Mo Ming couldn't help but squat down and reach out to stroke Blue's head, the fluffy touch warming his heart.
"I never expected that there would be no racial restrictions for recruiting rare metals."
Once this idea came to mind, it seemed to open a door to a new world for Mo Ming. Could it be that he might be able to recruit other beasts in the future?
Azure Dragon!?
White Tiger!?
Suzaku!?
Xuanwu! ?
Looking at the four figures in front of him, Mo Ming was filled with excitement.
These four guys each have their own strengths, which perfectly complements the weaknesses of the Stone Trio.
Tark's powerful defense can serve as the strongest shield in battle, Leah's speed and agility make her an assassin on the battlefield, Kane's reconnaissance ability can help the team avoid danger, and Blue's transformation ability is a trump card in critical moments.
Stepping out of the barracks, Mo Ming led everyone into the courtyard, where sunlight streamed through the sky and shone on everyone's faces.
He glanced around, his gaze sweeping over Tark, Lia, Kane, and Blue, before settling on Stone, Dodo, and Manmon. The seven of them (plus a dog) stood in a row. Having only recently formed a team, the atmosphere was noticeably unfamiliar and reserved.
Mo Ming was silent for a moment, then gave a warm smile and clapped his hands to break the subtle silence. "Alright, let me introduce you to each other." His voice was unhurried, yet it exuded a unique and approachable charm.
He looked at Tark, Lia, Kane, and Blue, and said solemnly, "The three of them..."
As he spoke, Mo Ming pointed to Man Meng, Duo Duo, and Shi Tou standing to the side, "Like you, you all came from different prisons. However, now you all belong to the same team, and from now on you will be partners who share life and death."
Upon hearing the word "prison," the newly joined Tark and Lia's expressions shifted slightly, their eyes revealing a complex mix of emotions.
They exchanged a glance, remaining silent, while Kane shrugged, displaying an indifferent expression. In contrast, the little dog Blue seemed completely unconcerned, wagging its tail and staring at the dry food in Manmon's hand, appearing somewhat distracted.
Mo Ming's gaze did not miss the subtle changes between them, but he maintained a patient tone and continued, "I will arrange to build you a few independent rooms later, so that you will have your own space after you settle in. As for other things, you can adapt to them after you get used to them, there is no rush."
Then he looked at Duoduo, Shitou, and Manmeng beside him and said, "Shitou, Duoduo, and Manmeng, you guys take your new partner around and introduce our territory."
Especially the distribution of pets and traps around the territory, so they're aware of everything and won't get accidentally injured. Also, take them to the warehouse to see the weapons later; they can take whatever they need.
Stone perked up immediately, puffed out his chest, and stepped forward, earnestly assuring everyone, "Don't worry, Chief! We've got it covered!"
But after saying that, her eyes darted around, and she glanced at Tark's burly figure, then at Leah and Kane's somewhat capable and indifferent expressions, and couldn't help but mutter to herself: These new companions are not to be trifled with.
Not to be outdone, Duoduo immediately put her hands on her hips and patted her chest: "Me too! I know this place best. I know all the fun places and food spots in our territory!"
With a blade of grass clenched in his teeth, Manmeng stood at the back of the group and said nonchalantly, "I don't find these people very 'fun,' but... introducing our territory is something we should do."
Hearing their conversation, Lia finally smiled slightly on her cold face, nodded gently, and said in a calm but natural manner, "Thank you."
Tark stood calmly in place, arms crossed, his expression unchanged.
Compared to the two calm adults, Kane seemed much more lively. He raised an eyebrow and looked at Stone and Dodo with amusement: "I'm quite interested in where we eat. After all, it's been a long time since I've had a proper meal."
Blue the dog cooperated perfectly, barking happily and licking its nose, seemingly agreeing with its owner.
Mo Ming watched the interaction between the group and nodded in satisfaction. He relaxed his shoulders, becoming more at ease, and his words revealed a touch of sincerity.
"Oh, by the way, from now on, just call me Chief, or Brother, it's fine either way! Remember, you are my partners, not slaves, so don't make yourselves look so humble."
As he spoke, he walked up to Tark and patted the man's strong arm.
As soon as Mo Ming finished speaking, the newcomers were immediately taken aback.
