Su Tong saw her own face in the mirror. For a moment, her mind went blank. The face in the mirror looked like it was covered in a dense mass of tiny, purplish-red bumps, almost obscuring her features. The slivers of fair skin peeking through the bumps only made the purplish-red bumps appear even more grotesque and terrifying. She looked down and saw the same bumps on her hands, though noticeably less dense. They appeared sparsely, unsightly, and suddenly sprouted on her skin, looking strange and disgusting. But Su Tong knew that these were her face and her hands.
Seeing Wang Hai, who was usually calm, looking at her with such a terrified expression, Su Tong calmed down a little. At least the eyes reflected in the mirror were still her own eyes, and the outline was still her own outline. No matter what, it was still her.
Wang Hai had been wondering why the Second Young Master, who usually kept such a close eye on Miss Su, hadn't come to the set to watch over her since she was filming a night scene today. He had just chatted with his brother, Wang Lu, on his phone and learned that the Second Young Master had actually decided to cook at home on a whim. He thought that the Second Young Master was usually a cold, weapon-like figure, but tonight he had suddenly shown such tenderness. Miss Su was already deeply moved and feeling lonely and hurt from filming all day. When she got home and saw the table full of food prepared by the Second Young Master, wouldn't she be moved to tears? Maybe she would even offer herself to him.
Just then, Su Tong, unusually quiet and gentle, shouted at him loudly. There was a clear hint of pain in her voice. Wang Hai turned around and saw Su Tong's face, which was now downright terrifying. He was instantly terrified and broke out in a cold sweat. The Second Young Master had entrusted her to his care, and now he had turned such a beautiful, vibrant woman into this state. Wang Hai couldn't even imagine the punishment he might receive. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and slammed on the brakes, screeching to a halt at the roadside. "Miss Su, Miss Su, are you alright?"
The faint burning pain that had started gradually intensified, and the bumps on her face and body were accompanied by an increasingly intense itching sensation. Su Tong knew she absolutely couldn't touch, scratch, or pick at these bumps, as that might break her skin, but the discomfort was unbearable. So, she bit her lower lip hard and decisively said to Wang Hai, who had also calmed down, "This isn't good. Let's drive to the hospital right away."
Since the deed had already happened, all Wang Hai could do was try to salvage it. Seeing that Su Tong didn't show any obvious pain on her face, but a large bead of bright red blood oozed from her tightly bitten lower lip, Wang Hai knew she was definitely in bad shape. He almost panicked, his voice trembling as he said, "Miss Su, please bear with it, just a little while. I need to tell the Second Young Master." Wang Hai thought he had to atone for his actions by handling the situation, so he barely managed to stop his trembling hands. Not daring to call Xie Chengjing directly, he sent a text message to his brother, Wang Lu, briefly explaining what had happened to Su Tong and the hospital they were going to. He hoped that, out of respect for Wang Lu and his own honesty, things wouldn't end so badly.
The burning pain and itching came and went quickly. By the time Wang Hai typed and sent a text message, and Su Tong's back was soaked with sweat, the burning pain and itching gradually subsided and eventually disappeared. Only the purplish-red bumps on her face and body remained; at least they no longer hurt or itch.
Humans are truly greedy and self-satisfied creatures. Compared to the unbearable burning and itching just now, the current situation of having bumps all over the body doesn't seem so terrible anymore.
The first thing Su Tong did upon arriving at the hospital wasn't to ask the doctor to examine her, but to say she needed to go to the restroom. Although her face was now horribly ugly, her figure and charm were still intact. Judging from her back, you could tell she was definitely a great beauty before these things appeared. Everyone assumed Su Tong couldn't accept reality and wanted to see how she looked now, so she went to the restroom to look in the mirror, and no one stopped her.
Su Tong quickly walked into the bathroom, rushed into a stall, closed the door tightly, and then slipped into the space.
The space spring water had already been tested by Su's father at his old classmate's place at the Provincial Academy of Sciences. His classmate had sent half of it to his brother at the Chinese Academy of Sciences for further testing. The water showed absolutely no ingredients that could have any special effects; it was just like any ordinary spring water. Therefore, Su Tong wasn't worried about any problems with the tests. She scooped up a large cup of the space spring water and drank it. The healing and beautifying effects of the space spring water were undeniable; it had easily cured Kong Kong's numerous burn scars and Su's father's long-standing, stubborn athlete's foot.
Su Tong knew that Wang Hai always approved the food Su Tong ate on set, and her two assistants were also trusted by Xie Chengjing. Su Tong suspected that her condition was related to drinking the bottle of mineral water Lin Shanshan had given her. The remaining half-bottle was still in Su Tong's bag, making her feel like she was carrying a bomb. Time was short, and she couldn't shower, so Su Tong could only hastily squat by the pool in her spatial dimension, gently splashing water on her face and neck with her hands, which were also covered in red bumps. She figured this would help somewhat; maintaining this pimple-covered appearance was really too much. However, Wang Hai and the others were all waiting outside, and Su Tong couldn't stay in the spatial dimension for long. She quickly washed her face, neck, and hands, dried them with a towel, and went outside.
Wang Hai entrusted Wang Lu with the important task of telling Xie Chengjing about this, but it was incredibly difficult for Wang Lu to do so. Most soldiers weren't completely incapable of cooking; during field exercises, rainforest warfare, or long-term deployments in remote mountains, they had to cook for themselves for months on end, but the food they produced under those conditions was barely edible. Therefore, Xie Chengjing only knew a few dishes, and their presentation was barely passable. Yet, he sat upright at the table, his eyes focused and bright, as if he were a proud army commander leading his troops, the dishes representing his soldiers, and Su Tong the commander-in-chief about to arrive for an inspection.
For Wang Lu, Xie Chengjing was mostly his superior, but often he was also like his younger brother, only a little colder and less talkative. He really couldn't bear to show this text message to Xie Chengjing and tell him that the girl he was waiting for today would not come back. Not only would she not come back, but she had also suffered a kind of harm that almost no girl could bear when he wasn't paying attention.
However, he could only tell him the news immediately. He held the phone up to Xie Chengjing, who seemed to only have eyes for the few dishes, and gestured for him to look at the text message from Wang Hai. "Second Young Master, something has happened."
Xie Chengjing's eyes swept over the few lines of text, the light in his eyes gradually dimming, his pupils turning dark and cold like the underworld. Wang Lu knew he was truly angry. He stood up and quickly walked out, leaving Wang Lu with only one sentence: "Take the food I made over. We'll eat in a bit."
As soon as Su Tong stepped out of the bathroom, she was surrounded by doctors and nurses. Wang Hai had probably already told the hospital leaders what kind of person Su Tong was, so the service was incredibly attentive and gentle. Even with her face and body covered in bumps, not a single doctor or nurse dared to show the slightest bit of negative emotion. They directly laid Su Tong, who was perfectly capable of walking on her own, onto the hospital bed. First, she saw a dermatologist, then they drew blood, tested her urine, took her hair, and took her nails.
While they were all busy in such a chaotic manner, Su Tong herself calmed down. She cooperated with whatever the doctor asked her to do, and when he didn't want her to cooperate, she lay down and read a magazine. Fortunately, it was a fashion magazine about clothing and matching. If it were any other magazine, she really wouldn't have been able to concentrate on it.
When Xie Chengjing rushed into the ward like a cold wind, the first thing he saw was Su Tong's hand holding a magazine. The back of her hand was covered with small purplish-red bumps, making her slender hand look pitiful. The magazine in her hand was facing Su Tong's face, so Xie Chengjing could not see what Su Tong's face looked like.
Author's Note: I'm sorry, everyone, I broke my promise. It's my period again these past few days, and it really hurts so much that I can't write anymore. I'll make up for it with two longer chapters later. (166 Reading Network)
