Chapter 159 Chameleon
Chapter 159 Chameleon
Shu Yun fell asleep again. When she woke up, Gu Jun had already returned. He quietly opened the door and came in, whispering, "Baby's asleep?"
The baby lay peacefully beside his mother, sleeping soundly. The baby changed every day; the redness on his face had faded considerably, and he looked much cuter and more obedient than when he was first born. Gu Jun felt a surge of tenderness in his heart, and he leaned closer to the baby, unable to resist gently touching the child's soft little face with his finger.
Shu Yun glared at him, "What are you doing? Be careful you don't wake the child."
No sooner had he finished speaking than the child's long eyelashes fluttered twice, and before he even opened his eyes, a cry rang out. Gu Jun felt embarrassed.
Shu Yun rubbed her throbbing temples. "You made her cry, so you'll have to comfort her yourself."
Gu Jun hurriedly took the child from him, holding him in his arms and gently lifting him as he walked, saying, "Oh, baby, be good, baby, don't cry."
Gu Jun kept pacing around the room, then picked up the cloth tiger from the crib and waved it in front of the baby, saying, "Baby, look! It's a cute little tiger! The little tiger is here!"
Shu Yun gradually began to find some amusement in Gu Jun's flustered actions, watching with amusement as a grown man deliberately coaxed the child in a sweet voice.
The baby finally cried until he was exhausted, and his little face rested on Gu Jun's shoulder. If it weren't for the tiny teardrops on his eyelashes, he would definitely be a well-behaved and adorable little baby.
Gu Jun breathed a sigh of relief. The little bundle of flesh lay on him, making him afraid to move. After the child fell asleep, he gently placed the baby back next to Shu Yun.
Seeing the sweat on his face, Shu Yun teased him, "Let's see if you dare to mess with him again next time."
Gu Jun wiped the sweat from his brow. She really was his little darling. Looking at Shu Yun, who was smiling and laughing on the bed, he silently added in his heart, "Yes, she is also my little darling."
Wang Xiuwen didn't return until just before dinner, and finally told Shu Yun everything that had happened next door.
Ding Hongmei patiently taught for two days, but she really couldn't stand these naughty and stupid children. In her heart, she thought that these children would be good for nothing when they grew up, and it would be a waste to teach them!
She tried to recall the steps she took to learn to draw during her student days, but she couldn't remember them for the time being. Under the children's expectant gazes, she took out her old sketches from the bookcase drawer and said, "Here, you can draw this first."
One of the children asked curiously, "Auntie, why are we drawing this?"
"what is this?"
"It was all dark, I couldn't even see it."
Ding Hongmei was already unhappy about being called "auntie," but to belittle her painting was even more intolerable. She retorted stiffly, "This is an egg. The black parts are shadows. Do you understand shadows? If you don't know, don't talk nonsense."
The children responded with an "oh." Among the group, some children sat down and drew obediently. However, as they drew, they would have questions for Ding Hongmei. Some questions were easy for her to answer, but others left her completely baffled. She could only vaguely say, "Just draw what you see. Why are you asking so many questions?"
After saying that, she ignored the child and went inside to do her own thing. It might be fine for a day or two, but if it goes on for too long, something bad might happen.
Jinbao was pushed to the ground by two little boys, and his forehead hit a small stone, cutting his forehead and causing blood to flow out. Jinbao was so frightened that he cried loudly.
When Ding Hongmei came out and saw this scene, her heart skipped a beat. She quickly bandaged the child's wound. The wound was small and the bleeding stopped quickly. However, Jinbao, who had been pampered since childhood, had never experienced such crying before. His tears didn't stop, and his cries were deafening. Ding Hongmei had to reach out and cover his mouth, saying, "Stop crying."
As soon as she finished speaking, a crisp slap landed on Ding Hongmei's face. Hong Hui gritted her teeth and said, "You little slut, I left my child with you, and this is how you treat me? I'm going to fight you to the death!"
Ignoring everyone's attempts to stop her, Hong Hui grabbed Ding Hongmei's hair and dragged her away with all her might, causing Ding Hongmei to wince in pain.
Ding Hongmei's features were all distorted. She usually had a proper and respectable demeanor, but now she looked like an abstract madwoman.
Hong Hui was used to farm work and was very strong. Ding Hongmei, a delicate young lady, was no match for her. Her already low nose was flattened even more by Hong Hui's heavy punch, and she bled from her nose. One of her eyes was bruised like a panda's.
Ding Hongmei was furious and scratched Hong Hui's body incessantly with her long fingernails. The two women were acting too brutally, like madwomen fighting madwomen. No one in the crowd watching the show dared to step forward.
The farce finally came to an end when the women's director shouted angrily.
The women's director frowned: "Stop right now! How old are you? You still have a child. Don't you have any shame?"
Hong Hui: "Director, you can't wrong me. Look, my Jinbao's forehead is all bruised. How could I not fight with her? It hurts a mother's heart to hurt her son."
"Hehe, fighting, oh oh, fun." Jinbao laughed happily, completely unaware that he had inadvertently embarrassed his mother.
Ding Hongmei retorted, "It's just a little injury, Hong Hui is making a big fuss over it. Besides, I'm just teaching the children to draw, it doesn't mean I'm responsible for their personal safety. Don't act like a mad dog and bite people everywhere."
The women's director had already learned the general outline of what had happened from others. She looked at the two little boys huddled to the side, the ones who had just fought with Jinbao, and asked, "Whose children are these?"
Hong Hui realized what was happening. Oh, she had forgotten about the culprit. She rolled up her sleeves, ready to give the two little boys a good beating, when someone in the crowd shouted, "They are the twins from Commander Ma's family."
Hong Hui paused. Commander Ma? Wasn't that her husband's superior? Her fierce expression immediately vanished, replaced by a kind smile. "Don't be afraid, Auntie doesn't blame you. You definitely didn't mean it."
Women's Director: ...
"Alright, the children got into a fight. Regardless of the reason, since Jinbao was injured, the twins are definitely responsible. And Ding Hongmei, although you weren't involved, the incident happened in your home, and it was during your time teaching the children to draw. You failed to supervise them properly, so you are naturally responsible as well. The Ma family bears the majority of the responsibility, and Ding Hongmei, you bear the minority."
"Yes, yes, that's right. We'll pay for whatever medical expenses Jinbao needs at the hospital." Sister-in-law Ma rushed over and patted the twins on the head.
Hong Hui's smile became even more obsequious. "How could that be? It's normal for children to bump and bruise each other while playing. If anyone is responsible, it's Ding Hongmei. Let her take the blame."
Ding Hongmei was so angry at these words that her nose almost twisted. "Then what about the injuries on my body?"
……
Shu Yun listened with great interest and pressed for an answer: "So what's the next step?"
