Chapter 226 Pregnant for 8 months, still running around everywhere?
“Tan Haoyu,” Xiao Xingyi said, his smile fading as he looked at Tan Haoyu with a serious expression, “I’m entrusting my sister to you. You must take good care of her. I also thank you on behalf of both our parents.”
Tan Haoyu frowned slightly and said in a deep voice, "She is my wife, and it is my responsibility to take care of her. I don't need anyone to remind me." His tone was firm and unquestionable.
Zhu Ziqing keenly sensed the tense atmosphere between the two, and she smiled and tried to smooth things over: "You two, why do you act like you've lit a powder keg as soon as you meet? Can't you talk properly?"
Tan Haoyu didn't say anything more, but simply put his arm around Zhu Ziqing's shoulder and turned to walk towards the car, clearly not wanting to have any more conversation with Xiao Xingyi.
"Brother, you must come to Pengcheng to visit us sometime!" Zhu Ziqing waved goodbye to Xiao Xingyi as Tan Haoyu pulled her along.
Xiao Xingyi waved goodbye, a relieved smile on his face, and watched them leave. He thought to himself that he had finally fulfilled his father's wish to reunite with his sister, and that a major matter had been resolved.
Once in the car, Zhu Ziqing took Tan Haoyu's hand and said in a feigned reproach, "Haoyu, have you become increasingly stingy lately? Why is your attitude towards my brother so strange?"
Tan Haoyu opened his mouth, but didn't know how to explain. He thought to himself, "I'm not being stingy, I just care about you more and more, and I'm afraid of losing you. I just don't know how to say these mushy things."
These words surged within him, but in the end, he couldn't bring himself to say them.
Despite his efforts to change many things, he is still somewhat clumsy when it comes to expressing emotions.
After dinner, they prepared to return to Shenzhen.
……
Soon, the plane carrying Tan Haoyu and Zhu Ziqing landed smoothly at Pengcheng Airport. Just as they stepped out of the airport terminal, Tan Haoyu's phone rang urgently; the caller ID showed Tan Xiaoxuan.
"Brother, where are you? Grandpa is already home. He was furious when he heard you were taking your pregnant sister-in-law around!" Tan Xiaoxuan's voice was filled with anxiety.
"Okay, we'll be right back." Tan Haoyu hung up the phone, his brows furrowing slightly.
Zhu Ziqing noticed Tan Haoyu's unusual behavior and asked with concern, "Haoyu, what's wrong?"
"It was Xiaoxuan calling. She said Grandpa was angry because we went out." Tan Haoyu held Zhu Ziqing's hand and comforted her, "Don't worry, I'm here."
The car quickly arrived at the Tan family villa. Tan Xiaoxuan was already waiting at the door, and as soon as she saw them, she hurriedly came to greet them.
"Brother, sister-in-law, you're finally back. Grandpa's in a bad mood right now, so you'd better watch what you say." Tan Xiaoxuan whispered a reminder, "When Grandpa gets angry, even I can't calm him down."
Zhu Ziqing instinctively gripped Tan Haoyu's hand tightly, a sense of unease rising within her.
Tan Haoyu gently patted the back of her hand, giving her a reassuring look.
As the two entered the living room, the elders' eyes immediately turned to them.
Mrs. Tan and Mr. Tan sat on the sofa, their faces looking rather pale. Mr. Tan kept glancing at Mrs. Tan, his eyes filled with worry.
Grandpa Tan sat in the main seat with no expression on his face, but Zhu Ziqing could sense that his anger was being suppressed and could erupt at any moment.
"Haoyu, you finally know how to come back!" Grandpa Tan finally spoke, his voice deep and authoritative. "How could you take Ziqing, who is eight months pregnant, running around like this? Don't you care about this family? Have you considered her and the baby's safety?"
"Grandpa, the doctor said the fetus is very stable now, and there won't be any problems going out," Tan Haoyu explained calmly.
"Stable? What if something unexpected happens?" Grandpa Tan raised his voice, "You child, how can you be so reckless!"
"Dad, Haoyu took Qing'er out after careful consideration." Mr. Tan quickly stepped in to smooth things over.
"I'm just concerned about my granddaughter-in-law and great-grandson!" Grandpa Tan looked at Zhu Ziqing, his tone softening slightly. "Ziqing, don't blame Grandpa. Grandpa is just worried about you and the child."
"Grandpa, I know you mean well," Zhu Ziqing replied cautiously. "I promise I won't run around like that again before I give birth."
"Yes, Ziqing is such a sensible and good child." Grandpa Tan nodded. "Haoyu is so lucky to have married you."
Zhu Ziqing's lips curled up slightly into a smile, but inwardly she thought, "Grandpa Tan seems so kind on the surface, but he told me to leave Haoyu before. Now he might be unhappy that I haven't left and that I'm pregnant. Is he trying to preserve the Tan family bloodline first, and then force me to leave after the baby is born?"
Thinking of this, Zhu Ziqing's heart tightened. She looked up and met Grandpa Tan's gaze.
In that instant, she caught a glimpse of the sharpness in Grandpa Tan's eyes, but he quickly concealed it.
Seeing that Grandpa Tan didn't say anything more, Zhu Ziqing pretended that nothing had happened and said with a smile, "Thank you for your concern, Grandpa. Haoyu and I understand your good intentions."
Although she said that, her worries did not diminish at all.
The atmosphere in the living room was still a bit tense. Tan Xiaoxuan's eyes darted around, and she immediately ran to Grandpa Tan's side, affectionately taking his arm and starting to pout: "Grandpa, don't be angry. My brother was just trying to make my sister-in-law happy. Besides, nothing bad happened when they went out. Don't get upset."
As Tan Xiaoxuan spoke, she shook Grandpa Tan's arm, her face full of a fawning smile.
Grandpa Tan looked at Tan Xiaoxuan, his serious expression instantly replaced by kindness, and he smiled as he tapped her nose: "You little rascal, you always know how to make Grandpa happy. Okay, Grandpa won't be angry anymore. You, if you have any strange or unusual stories, tell Grandpa about them."
Seeing this, Zhu Ziqing breathed a slight sigh of relief and quickly walked towards Tan Haoyu's parents, politely greeting them: "Dad, Mom, we're back."
Mrs. Tan quickly beckoned Zhu Ziqing to sit down next to her, took her hand, and said with concern, "Qing'er, you must be exhausted from your journey. It's all Haoyu's fault; he doesn't know how to take care of people."
Zhu Ziqing gently shook her head and said softly, "Mom, Haoyu is very good to me. I just wanted to go out for a walk myself. But you don't look too well. Are you tired? Why don't you go back to your room and rest for a while?"
Mr. Tan nodded in agreement, "Yes, your mother hasn't been feeling well lately. I'll help her back to her room to rest. Haoyu, you and Qing'er should go and get some rest too."
Tan Haoyu responded and pulled Zhu Ziqing back to the room.
As soon as he entered the room, Tan Haoyu noticed that Zhu Ziqing's complexion was not good and asked with concern, "Qing'er, what's wrong? You look so pale."
