Chapter Thirty-Three: The Storm Rises Again
After experiencing various twists and turns, Liu Yu, Bai Suzhen, and Xiaoqing's feelings for each other deepened, and they continued to roam the martial arts world, upholding justice and chivalry.
One day, they arrived at a bustling town. As soon as they entered the town gate, they heard a commotion. It turned out that a grand temple fair was being held in the town. The streets were lined with all sorts of stalls, selling snacks, handicrafts, and performing acrobatics—a truly lively scene.
Among the crowd, Liu Yu and her two companions peered out curiously, their faces beaming with excitement. Suddenly, a familiar figure caught Bai Suzhen's attention.
"Isn't that Xu Xian?" Bai Suzhen said softly, a hint of surprise in her eyes.
Liu Yu followed her gaze and indeed saw Xu Xian. Xu Xian still looked like a frail scholar, dressed in a blue robe, standing in front of a stall, carefully selecting items.
Bai Suzhen stepped forward and softly called out, "Xu Xian."
Xu Xian turned around and saw Bai Suzhen. His face immediately lit up with surprise and delight: "Miss Bai, what a coincidence! I never expected to meet you here."
Bai Suzhen smiled and nodded, introducing Xu Xian: "This is Liu Yu, my husband, and Xiaoqing."
Xu Xian politely bowed to Liu Yu and Xiao Qing, saying, "It's a pleasure to meet you."
After exchanging pleasantries, Xu Xian learned about Liu Yu and Xiao Qing's experiences, his eyes filled with curiosity and admiration.
Just then, a cry came from afar. Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a burly bully harassing a little flower girl. The little girl was crying her eyes out, and her flower basket had been knocked to the ground.
Without saying a word, Liu Yu rushed over, grabbed the bully's wrist, and shouted angrily, "How dare you bully people in broad daylight!"
Enraged, the bully glared at him and shouted, "Who do you think you are, daring to meddle in my business!"
Xiaoqing wasn't about to be outdone, and quickly rushed over, waving her fist and saying, "Hmph, I'm going to take care of things today!"
Seeing that they were not to be trifled with, the bully was somewhat intimidated, but still stubbornly said, "You just wait!" After saying that, he slunk away.
The little girl was moved to tears. She presented a bouquet of flowers and said timidly, "Thank you, my benefactors."
The crowd continued to enjoy the temple fair, soaking up the lively atmosphere. Suddenly, dark clouds filled the sky, and a bolt of lightning flashed, instantly illuminating the entire town.
"Oh no, it seems a demon is at work," Bai Suzhen said solemnly.
Before the words were even finished, a gigantic monster appeared in the center of the town. This monster was as big as a mountain, with a ferocious face, baring its teeth and brandishing its claws, scaring people into fleeing in all directions, with screams and cries rising and falling.
Liu Yu stepped forward and shouted, "Don't be afraid, let's all attack together!"
Bai Suzhen immediately unleashed her water magic, her hands swirling as water condensed into ice spikes in the air, shooting towards the demon. Xiaoqing, wielding her sword, charged towards the demon with lightning speed. Liu Yu also unhesitatingly used the power of her divine artifact, its light flashing as she engaged the demon in fierce combat.
Xu Xian watched in stunned silence, his legs trembling. But seeing the brave figures of the crowd, he mustered his courage and helped evacuate them, keeping them away from danger.
Under the combined attack of the group, the monster gradually became overwhelmed and its movements slowed down. Just when they thought victory was imminent, the monster suddenly spewed out a cloud of black smoke, which instantly spread and obscured everyone's vision. Taking advantage of the situation, the monster transformed into a black shadow and escaped.
"We can't let it get away!" Liu Yu shouted, his voice filled with determination.
They chased after the monster in the direction it had fled, until they reached a gloomy valley.
A thick fog filled the valley, so dense that the road was almost invisible. The ground beneath our feet was damp and muddy, emitting a putrid stench.
"Be careful, there might be a trap here," Bai Suzhen warned, her voice tinged with worry.
As they were proceeding cautiously, they suddenly heard a sharp laugh.
"Haha, you really came." A mysterious voice echoed in the valley.
Everyone looked around warily, their nerves on edge. Suddenly, a figure slowly emerged from the thick fog—it was the toad demon they had defeated before.
"So it was you!" Xiaoqing said through gritted teeth.
The toad demon sneered, "You got away last time, but it won't be so easy this time."
After saying that, the toad spirit waved his hands and summoned a group of little monsters. These little monsters were of different shapes and sizes, some with fangs and some covered with sharp spikes. They all rushed towards them.
Another fierce battle ensued. Liu Yu and the others fought back fiercely, each displaying their signature skills. Liu Yu's divine weapon shone brightly, repelling hordes of small demons with every swing; Bai Suzhen's water magic flowed like a mighty river, endless and continuous; Xiao Qing's sword danced up and down, its shadow flashing; while Xu Xian looked for opportunities to help the wounded.
However, the monsters were numerous and fearless, and they gradually found themselves in a difficult situation. Liu Yu was injured in several places, and Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing were also panting heavily, their strength gradually waning.
Just then, Fahai appeared. He was wearing a kasaya, holding a staff, and had a dignified appearance.
"Amitabha! This demon is running rampant here!" Fahai shouted, his voice booming like a bell, deafeningly loud.
Fahai's appearance instantly changed the situation. He unleashed powerful Buddhist magic, waving his staff with golden light that caused demons to fall wherever he went.
"Thank you for your help, Master Fahai," Liu Yu said. Although he still harbored some resentment towards Fahai, he had no choice but to thank him for his assistance.
Fahai glanced at him and said, "Humans and demons are different. You'd better take care of yourselves." After saying that, he turned and left, his figure quickly disappearing into the thick fog.
After a short rest, the group continued their search for the monster in the valley. Suddenly, Liu Yu discovered a cave. The cave entrance was narrow, and the interior was dark, exuding an eerie atmosphere.
“Maybe the monster is hiding inside,” Liu Yu said, his eyes resolute.
They entered the cave, which was dark and damp, with water droplets dripping from the walls and a pungent smell permeating the air. The stones underfoot were slippery, and one could easily slip and fall.
"Watch out!" Bai Suzhen shouted.
Suddenly, a gigantic python demon leaped out from the depths of the cave. This python demon had a thick body, its scales gleaming with a cold light, and its eyes, like lanterns, emitted a ferocious glow.
The python demon opened its blood-red maw, spewing out a stream of venom as it lunged at them.
Liu Yu and his companions engaged in a thrilling battle with the python demon. They fought the demon within the cave, each attack fraught with danger and challenge…
