Chapter 63 Qin Yuan and Lin Yun Leave
Chapter 63 Qin Yuan and Lin Yun Leave
Having made up their minds, they left Yang Xiao and Zhong Qiang to guard the house. Considering that someone had deliberately lured zombies to their villa, and to avoid being seen by other people in the villa area with many luxury cars, Gu Nanfeng felt they needed to find a safe place to return the cars.
After thinking for a moment, the group remembered the agricultural product market they had visited before, which was about a ten-minute drive from the villa. So, Lu Yuan, Gu Nanfeng, and Pei Sihao drove a G-Class to that market to make preparations, while Qin Yuan and Lin Yun drove another car to the ring road to pick up Du Wenqing and Li Jie.
Lu Yuan and his group returned to the agricultural market, which was as stinky as ever. They found a relatively clean spot that could park a dozen or so cars, put on their protective suits and oxygen equipment, and then got out of the car.
Although there were no zombies or animals here before, Gu Nanfeng still held two tear gas canisters and vigilantly looked around, keeping watch for Pei Sihao and Lu Yuan. Pei Sihao was assigned by Gu Nanfeng to help Lu Yuan.
Next, Lu Yuan released a car from his spatial storage, and Pei Sihao helped open the trunk. Lu Yuan then put supplies into the car, while Pei Sihao helped check to make sure nothing was missing. After checking, he closed the trunk.
Just as Lu Yuan and his group were ready, they heard a series of car engine noises. Considering that Qin Yuan and his group might be followed by zombies, Lu Yuan and his group got into the car they had driven and waited quietly.
A short while later, a large Mercedes-Benz G-Class was spotted in the distance, followed by five military vehicles. Although there were no zombies following behind, there were quite a few animals.
Lu Yuan found it very strange. Everyone was in a zombie apocalypse, and the probability of them encountering zombies was really, really small. The zombies here had all disappeared. But Y Province had completely collapsed and fallen under the siege of zombies and crazed animals.
Several vehicles circled the trading market, gunshots rang out continuously, and most of the large animals following them were shot dead. For the remaining animals that were not harmful, Pei Sihao took the tear gas from Gu Nanfeng's hand and threw one out the window, and they scattered.
After the tear gas dissipated for a while, more than forty soldiers got out of the car one after another. Most of them were about the same age as Lu Yuan and his group, and some even looked younger than them.
The young soldiers were pleasantly surprised to see so many luxury cars parked neatly in front of them; they thought they were going to be driven to T City in a supply truck.
Du Wenqing and Li Jie got out of the car Qin Yuan and Lin Yun had just gotten out of. They were also shocked. They knew Pei Sihao and Gu Nanfeng were wealthy, but even if they were rich, they couldn't possibly have so many identical cars, all of them modified and reinforced. Qin Yuan and Lin Yun had given them a heads-up in the car, telling them not to be surprised and not to ask too many questions, but Du Wenqing hadn't taken it seriously at the time.
When they got the car keys and opened the car door, they were even more shocked. Not only them, but Qin Yuan and Lin Yun were also shocked. Every car was full of supplies, including food, clothing and daily necessities. They thought Lu Yuan would only prepare enough water and dry food for them, but they did not expect that there would be various instant hot pots, instant rice, political and military self-heating food. Judging from the quantity, it would last at least half a month.
Lin Yun walked to Lu Yuan's car, wanting to say something, but Lu Yuan, sitting in the back seat, just smiled and interrupted him, "Brother Lin, we don't know what the situation will be like on the way. These are all our good wishes. You must have a safe journey."
"We'll wait for you to come back." Gu Nanfeng reached out from the passenger seat and patted Lin Yun on the shoulder, handing him two backpacks that Lu Yuan had packed on the spur of the moment after getting in the car.
"Have a safe trip," Pei Sihao said to Qin Yuan, who was standing next to the driver's seat.
They were all partners who had gone through life and death together in the resort. They didn't really want Qin Yuan and Lin Yun to go, but they were soldiers, and Lu Yuan and the others had no right or reason to dissuade them.
Without waiting for them to say anything more, Pei Sihao stepped on the gas, and the three of them drove away first.
Qin Yuan walked over to Lin Yun and took a backpack from his hand. "Lu Xiaoyuan is really something, he even prepared luggage for us separately."
Qin Yuan weighed the backpacks in his hand and looked at Lin Yun incredulously. They both knew that there might be a large number of firearms in the two bags, which were things they couldn't let Du Wenqing and the others see for the time being, as they were their life-saving items.
Lin Yun silently slung his backpack over his shoulder and went to tell Du Wenqing and Li Jie to hurry up and get into their respective cars so they could set off. Qin Yuan also rubbed his backpack with a smile; he noticed a few small packs of cigarettes in a small pocket on the side of the backpack.
Although Lu Yuan repeatedly told him to smoke less during the few days he was at the villa, saying that secondhand smoke was bad for the other six non-smokers, he still packed some cigarettes for himself before leaving. He touched the bottom of his backpack and realized there was probably more than one pack.
When Lu Yuan and the other two returned to the villa, Zhong Qiang peeked behind them and saw that Qin Yuan and Lin Yun had indeed left without a word. The villa was only two people away, but it felt much quieter.
Yesterday they were talking about how if there was no trouble outside today, Lu Yuan would arrange a hot pot dinner tonight with plenty of meat, and they would eat meat and drink alcohol to their hearts' content. But no one expected that Qin Yuan and Lin Yun would rush off to the rescue with their original team before they even had dinner tonight.
The vegetables and meat that Lin Yun had prepared at noon were still in the refrigerator. Lu Yuan and the others hesitated for a moment, but decided to have a hot pot to finish them off. After all, what problem in this world can't be solved with a hot pot?
As soon as the fragrant and spicy hot pot was brought out of the kitchen, Zhong Qiang exclaimed that he couldn't stand it anymore. He opened a can of beer and started cooking beef. The others quickly got into the mood and ate in a lively atmosphere. They ate from a little after seven o'clock until almost eleven o'clock.
After cleaning up the dining table and kitchen, Lu Yuan went up to the third floor and sat by the telescope on the balcony to observe the surroundings. The surroundings were still peaceful, with only a few villas having their lights on.
It's been almost three months since the virus outbreak started. To the people living here now, Lu Yuan and his group are newcomers. In their eyes, Lu Yuan and his group probably found supplies elsewhere and passed through this villa area of the university town. They found that there were relatively few zombies here and chose a damaged villa as their base.
They didn't know where the reinforcement materials came from, guessing they might have been part of the villa's original structure. They regretted not being more vigilant and checking on the damaged villa earlier. After all, the villa had already been vandalized by zombies before they left; the messy yard was visible from a distance. So, no one who later came to stay in this villa complex thought to have visited this deepest part of the villa, assuming it had been attacked by zombies and might still be active inside. Now, they could only look on with envy.
Of course, there are also some people who not only envy but also want to have it...
