Chapter 240: The Person Who Treated Her Best
Chapter 240: The Person Who Treated Her Best
Clearly, Lin Rusi did not have this idea.
Even if she didn't have those thoughts, she still couldn't help but feel moved.
The prince of the dynasty is of noble status, yet he is willing to cook and clean for her. How many people can do that?
Perhaps God gave her this opportunity so that she could come to find Li Jingyang. She immediately smiled at the man beside her.
"I'm afraid only His Highness has ever been so kind to me in this world."
Li Jingyang affectionately rubbed her head: "What are you thinking about? Since you're not feeling well, just rest. If there's anything you want to eat, I'll ask Wanxia and Wanqi to get it for you."
After saying that, he actually kicked Wanxia and Wanqi out.
Lin Rusi's thoughts wandered, and as if she had suddenly thought of something, she panicked slightly: "Your Highness, I am not feeling well and it is inconvenient for me to stay overnight. Perhaps Your Highness could stay today instead..."
However, before she could finish speaking, Li Jingyang had already closed the door without hesitation.
He locked everyone outside, then took them to the bedside and used hot water to help Lin Rusi wash up.
His movements were meticulous and his expression serious; he didn't seem like it was his first time doing something like this.
But Lin Rusi knew in his heart that the person taking care of him was a high and mighty prince.
How could they possibly have experience taking care of others?
Yet, he treated her with such familiarity and skill, how could Lin Rusi not be moved?
In the silence, Li Jingyang took off his cloak and other clothes, and helped her lie down.
After tidying everything up, he sat down on the edge of the bed. Gently adjusting the blankets, he poked the little girl's head with a hint of exasperation: "What are you thinking about?"
Lin Rusi's mind raced with a flurry of thoughts, including those she had just assumed to be aware of.
But to his surprise, Li Jingyang didn't think that much about it at all; he just wanted to help him get to sleep.
Lin Rusi's face turned bright red instantly. She shrank back uncomfortably, buried her head in the quilt, and said in a muffled voice, "Your Highness is just teasing me."
Li Jingyang chuckled and said softly, "Come out quickly, I won't tease you anymore. Don't get bored. If you're not feeling well, get some rest."
As he spoke, he patted the blanket lightly, with just the right amount of pressure, as if he were coaxing a child.
Lin Rusi, however, found it very pleasant, as the force was just right and made her feel extremely comfortable.
Perhaps it was because I drank the jujube soup, or perhaps it was psychological, but my lower abdomen felt warm, thanks to the hot water bottle Wanxia gave me.
The pain had subsided, but looking at the person sitting beside her bed, she felt a mix of emotions.
As if on a sudden whim, he blurted out, "Would Your Highness like to sing me a nursery rhyme?"
Upon hearing this, Li Jingyang was clearly taken aback for a moment, but when he turned his head and met Lin Rusi's expectant expression, he nodded.
The room was quiet, except for the sound of him humming something softly.
A soothing voice sounded in her ear, and for a moment, Lin Rusi's vision blurred; she didn't know why.
Knowing their own expectations, they've become a bit too demanding.
Yet the man in front of her was still willing to pamper her, listen to her requests, and sing her nursery rhymes. He was extremely good to her.
Lin Rusi's eyes instantly reddened. She turned her head away somewhat awkwardly, but couldn't help reaching out to touch the blanket.
She found the man's large hand and grasped it firmly.
The nursery rhyme stopped abruptly. Lin Rusi turned around and met Li Jingyang's gentle yet somewhat surprised gaze.
Then he couldn't help but say again, "Your Highness, I will definitely treat you well for the rest of my life and never let you down!"
Lin Rusi's voice was soft and gentle, and she spoke earnestly, as if she were making a great vow. Her eyes were full of determination, but the corners of her eyes were red.
She spoke these words solemnly and earnestly; perhaps never before had she been more sincere.
Li Jingyang could see clearly because he was so close. He felt a pang of heartache and reached out to gently rub the corner of his eye with his fingertips, whispering, "I know, go to sleep!"
Just those words made Lin Rusi's nose tingle and her eyes redden even more.
She turned around abruptly, not wanting the man to see the expression on her face. For a moment, Li Jingyang panicked, not knowing why.
He asked with concern, "But your stomach hurts again?"
Lin Rusi, who had her back to her, quickly shook her head: "My stomach doesn't hurt, but Your Highness's presence is disturbing my mind. I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep."
Even though Lin Rusi had tried her best to disguise it, her voice still carried a strong sob.
With a nasal tone, she pretended to sniffle and said, "Your Highness, I'm a little sleepy. I think Your Highness should go back and rest first, otherwise I won't be able to sleep here."
Seeing that she was indeed feeling unwell, Li Jingyang subconsciously reached out to feel her forehead.
Lin Rusi quickly dodged it and gently pushed Li Jingyang's hand.
"Your Highness, it's alright. My forehead isn't hot; I'm just a little tired. You should go back now."
Li Jingyang sighed softly, "Since you're not feeling well, it's only right that I stay and take care of you. I'll leave after you fall asleep."
The man insisted, and no matter what Lin Rusi said to him, he wouldn't agree.
Having no other choice, Lin Rusi could only resort to pranks, saying, "But I can't sleep with Your Highness here. Does Your Highness want me to keep watching you and not sleep?"
After hearing this, Li Jingyang had no choice but to speak again, but Lin Rusi didn't give him the chance at all.
She nudged him and said, "Go back quickly, Your Highness. It's cold outside. Go to sleep early, and I'll feel better after a good night's sleep tomorrow."
"Then you..." Li Jingyang still had some concerns, his worried gaze sweeping over her.
Lin Rusi smiled sweetly: "Your Highness, if you're really worried about me, why don't you get a good night's sleep tonight and come take care of me tomorrow?"
Having said all that, Li Jingyang stopped insisting, put her hand back under the covers, and then got up to leave.
Before leaving, he still looked at Wanxia and Wanqi with concern: "One of you stay here tonight to keep watch. Make sure they don't catch a cold again."
The two men naturally understood: "Your Highness, please rest assured, the Princess will be fine in our care."
Li Jingyang's gaze was still fixed on the room, while the person on the bed had turned away and lay down motionless, probably because they were really tired and had fallen asleep.
He looked at it a couple more times, still a little uneasy, before reluctantly leaving.
Only after the man left did Lin Rusi completely relax, her body trembling slightly.
His Highness treated her very well, but she didn't know how to respond.
Hot tears streamed down her face. If Li Jingyang hadn't left, he would have seen the person who had been lying there peacefully just moments before now trembling slightly.
Wanxia glanced at her and, noticing her approach, asked, "Your Highness, are you feeling a little cold?"
Lin Rusi did not reply, but shook her head to signal the two to leave.
