The Pretty Wife of General Jinxiu Huanian

Chapter 1 Traveling through another world

Chapter 1 Traveling through another world

Yunxi suddenly felt a pain in her head as if it was about to explode. She cried out in pain and struggled to open her eyes.

This look confused her.

She was lying on a carved wooden bed. Although the bed had flowers carved on it, it looked old no matter how you looked at it.

The material of the quilt I was covering myself with looked okay, but when I smelled it up close, it had a stale smell.

The bed curtains were pale blue, patched here and there. The room was dark, with only a few rays of sunlight squeezing in through the cracks in the torn window paper, allowing a vague look at the surrounding objects.

Yunxi gritted her teeth, propped herself up on the bed with both hands, and sat up. She looked down at herself. She was wearing a plain dress that looked old-fashioned and had nothing to do with modern clothes.

She frowned tightly, shook her head, and muttered, "What the hell is going on?

Why am I here?"

Just as she was about to ponder it, she heard a creak and the door opened. A little maid in light green clothes walked in.

The little maid had sharp eyes. When she saw Yunxi wake up, her mouth opened wide, her face full of surprise, and she hurriedly called out, "Miss, you're awake."

Yunxi looked over and saw that the maid was about fourteen or fifteen years old, with a round face like a meat bun just out of the pot.

His eyes rolled around, revealing a clever look.

At this time, a maid in light green clothes came in. Seeing Yunxi wake up, a hint of surprise appeared on her face, "Miss, you are awake."

This maid looked no more than fourteen or fifteen years old, with a round face and a pair of eyes that showed cleverness.

Yunxi frowned and asked, "Where is this?"

The maid hurried to the bedside, looking anxious, "Miss, are you confused in your sleep?

This is the Marquis's Mansion, and you are the Marquis's concubine."

Yunxi's eyes widened, her face filled with disbelief. "Marquis's Mansion? Concubine's daughter? How did I become a concubine's daughter of a marquis's mansion?"

"Why am I here?" Yunxi asked again, rubbing his temples as he asked, as if trying to clear up his confused thoughts.

The maid blinked her eyes and said in confusion, "Miss, you accidentally fell a few days ago and passed out.

The doctor said it was uncertain whether you would wake up, but now you are awake, it is truly God’s blessing.”

Yunxi bit her lip, got out of bed, put on her slippers and began to look around the room.

The shabby dressing table in the corner had four unstable legs, and the bronze mirror on it was not only blurry but also had a corner missing.

The wooden shelf next to it was also crooked, with a few washed-out clothes hanging on it, some of which were patched.

She walked to the door, stretched out her hand and pushed it open, a damp smell blowing into her nose. The yard was overgrown with weeds, some tall, some short, some almost reaching her waist.

In the corner there was a pile of old junk, such as a stool with missing legs and a broken can, all piled together in a mess.

At this moment, a commotion was heard not far away. Yunxi looked in the direction of the sound and saw several brightly dressed women walking towards them.

The woman in the lead was wearing gorgeous clothes. The material was obviously of high quality, and the flowers embroidered on it were lifelike.

She wore a golden hairpin with jewels on it that sparkled so brightly that it hurt the eyes. The woman had a pretty face, but her eyebrows were raised high, giving her a hint of arrogance.

"Oh, isn't this Sister Yunxi? What happened? Did you hurt your brain after falling?" The woman said with a smile on her lips and a look of disdain in her eyes, as if she was looking at a pitiful kitten or puppy.

Yunxi folded her arms across her chest and snorted coldly, "I'm in good shape, so don't worry about me."

The woman's expression suddenly turned ugly after being confronted by Yunxi. "How dare you talk to me like that, you ungrateful thing?"

Yunxi took a step forward, "What? Can't I tell the truth?"

Seeing this, several women nearby hurriedly grabbed the leading woman and said, "Miss, don't bother with her. There's no need to get angry over her."

The leading woman shook off the hands of the others, pointed at Yunxi's nose and said, "Who do you think you are?

A concubine's daughter dares to act so arrogantly in front of me."

The maidservant beside Yunxi whispered, "Miss, this is the daughter of the Marquis's family, Miss Liumei."

Yunxi looked at Liu Mei without saying anything.

The servant girl behind Liu Mei, who was relying on her power, pouted and squinted her eyes, saying sarcastically, "Miss, why are you wasting your time talking to her? She's just an unfavored concubine's daughter."

Liu Mei crossed her arms over her chest, snorted, and looked disgusted as if she had eaten a fly. "Come on, let's go for a walk in the garden. Don't dirty our eyes here."

After she finished speaking, she twisted her body, and the hem of her gorgeous skirt swung out in an exaggerated arc. A group of people behind her followed her as she walked away in a mighty procession, looking so arrogant, as if this mansion was owned by her family.

Yunxi bit her lips until they were almost bleeding, and her heart was full of confusion and helplessness.

When it was time for dinner, Yunxi followed the maid to the dining room. There were several tables in the hall. The wife of the marquis, dressed in silk and satin, with a glittering golden hairpin in her hair, sat in the main seat, chatting and laughing with several concubines.

Yunxi walked in cautiously, looked around, found a seat in a corner, and was about to sit down.

The Marquis's wife squinted at her, her eyes like a knife, and said coldly, "Get up! Who told you to sit down?"

Yunxi quickly stood up, with her head lowered and her hands tightly clutching the corners of her clothes.

"It's really rude. A concubine's daughter dares to sit down casually." The wife of the Marquis frowned, her face full of impatience, and snorted.

Yunxi felt aggrieved, tears welling up in her eyes, but she didn't dare to say a word and could only endure it silently.

After dinner, Yunxi returned to her room and sat down on the bed like a deflated ball.

"This ancient marquisate has so many rules and regulations, and I'm not favored. How am I going to live in the future?"

Yunxi muttered to herself, pounding the bed board with her hands.

At this moment, there was a commotion outside. Yunxi opened the door and saw two maids pulling at a handkerchief, their faces red and their necks thick.

"This is mine!" A short and fat maid, with eyes as big as copper bells, grabbed the corner of the handkerchief tightly.

"It's obviously mine!" Another tall and thin maid pulled it back with both hands, cursing non-stop.

Yunxi stepped forward and tried to stop the fight, "Stop arguing, it's just a handkerchief, right?"

The two maids glanced at her. The short and fat maid rolled her eyes and said, "Miss, please don't get involved. This is not something you can interfere with."

Yunxi shook her head helplessly, sighed, and turned back to the house, "Oh, what is going on!"

At night, Yunxi lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. She thought about her life in the modern world, then looked at her current situation, and felt that fate had played a trick on her.
