Chapter 333 Law 1
Chapter 333 Law One
As the magician accurately revealed the answer, the enormous water monster, its body radiating a ghostly blue light, nodded slightly in acknowledgment. A barely perceptible glint of cunning flashed in its eyes, as large as copper bells, but no one present noticed it. Then, true to its word, it darted into the water with astonishing speed, disappearing without a trace in the blink of an eye, leaving only ripples slowly spreading across the surface.
Seeing this, the expedition members, who had been on edge, finally breathed a sigh of relief. They wiped the large beads of sweat from their foreheads, their faces showing the joy of surviving a close call. Then, they excitedly boarded the wooden boat that had been prepared beforehand, and together they rowed with all their might. The wooden boat, like a nimble little bird, sped towards the other side of the river.
However, just as the small boat reached the middle of the river, a huge whirlpool suddenly appeared without warning on the previously calm surface. This whirlpool surged forward with tremendous force, like a ferocious beast opening its blood-red maw, ready to swallow the entire boat. The expedition team members panicked immediately, frantically paddling their oars in an attempt to escape the whirlpool's terrifying pulling force.
At this moment, the mage standing at the bow of the ship frowned deeply. He knew the situation was critical; if no action was taken, the entire expedition would face annihilation. Without hesitation, he closed his eyes and rapidly chanted a mysterious and ancient incantation. With his chanting, a pale blue light shot from his hand, instantly forming a sturdy magical barrier around the small boat. This magical barrier shimmered faintly, like an unbreakable wall, temporarily resisting the immense suction of the whirlpool.
Just when everyone thought they were out of danger and could relax a little, something unexpected happened. Beneath the surface, a huge, dark shadow slowly emerged. The shadow grew clearer and clearer, until finally it was the sea monster that had just left! It turned out that this was all a carefully orchestrated conspiracy by the sea monster. It was unwilling to let the expedition team go so easily, so it pretended to keep its promise and leave, while secretly lurking in the shadows, waiting for its chance to strike.
The monster's enormous body burst from the water, splashing high into the air. It let out a low roar, filled with anger and triumph. The expedition members turned pale, despair engulfing them.
The magician remained calm and shouted, "Don't panic, everyone! I have another trick up my sleeve!" With that, he pulled a dagger from his robes, gleaming with an eerie light. This dagger had been passed down through generations of his family and was specifically used to deal with evil water monsters.
Seeing this, the water monster lunged at the small boat. The magician seized the opportunity and hurled his dagger at the monster. The dagger traced a dazzling arc through the air, piercing the monster's forehead. The monster struggled in agony, its massive body churning and creating towering waves.
But soon, the monster's eyes gleamed with even greater ferocity. Ignoring its pain, it swept its massive tail towards the small boat. The mage focused on maintaining the magical barrier, but his strength was waning. At this critical moment, a warrior from the expedition picked up a bow and arrow, nocked a specially crafted arrow soaked in holy water, aimed at the monster's eye, and fired. The arrow struck its target precisely, and the monster let out a pitiful cry before slowly sinking to the bottom. The expedition was ultimately safe, and they looked at the mage and the warrior with awe and gratitude.
At that moment, the water monster reappeared, its hideous and terrifying face sending chills down one's spine. It opened its gaping maw, large enough to swallow the entire small boat whole, and viciously lunged at it…
